Job Description

The General Manager - Socketing Machine Division will be responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling all operations related to the socketing machine line. This role focuses on achieving production targets, ensuring quality standards, maintaining machine efficiency, improving productivity, and coordinating with cross-functional departments. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving ability, and in-depth knowledge of plastic pipe/socketing processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations Management

Plan and schedule daily production to meet customer and dispatch requirements.

Monitor socketing machine operations, heating parameters, cooling cycles, and material feeding.

Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.

Implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and enhance productivity.

2. Quality Control

Ensure sockets are produced as per IS / ASTM / Customer standards.

Coordinate with QA team for regular inspections and testing.

Identify and resolve quality issues (deformation, cracks, ovality, uneven socket, etc.).

Train the operators on process parameters and quality checkpoints.

3. Machine & Maintenance Management

Maintain machine health and reduce downtime.

Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with maintenance team.

Ensure availability of tools, dies, heating bands, cooling system, and safety guards.

4. Team Leadership & Manpower Handling

Supervise Operators, Helpers, Supervisors and Shift In-charge.

Conduct training on machine operation, safety, housekeeping, and discipline.

Assign shift duties, monitor performance, and take corrective actions where needed.

5. Inventory & Cost Control

Monitor usage of raw materials, lubricants, power consumption, and scrap.

Reduce wastage and ensure optimum cost control.

Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for timely material availability.

6. Safety & Compliance

Ensure adherence to safety norms and ISO/Factory Act compliance.

Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks.

Key Skills Required

Strong knowledge of socketing machines (Manual/Automatic/Online).

Understanding of UPVC/CPVC/HDPE/PPR piping material behaviors.

Production planning and manpower handling.

Problem solving and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of ISO and quality standards.

Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Educational Qualification

Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical/Plastic/Industrial Engineering (preferred).

Candidates with strong practical experience may also apply.

Experience Required

10+ years of experience in Pipe Manufacturing Industry, with minimum 5 years in handling socketing machine operations at supervisory or managerial level.
