The General Manager for Catering and Event Management is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering operations and event services. This role ensures exceptional client experiences, profitable operations, high service standards, and effective team leadership. The General Manager drives business growth while maintaining quality, efficiency, and brand reputation.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Service Delivery
Oversee planning, execution, and evaluation of all catering and event operations
Ensure events are delivered on time, within budget, and to client specifications
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Sales & Business Development
Lead sales strategies to grow catering and event revenue
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and partners
Review proposals, contracts, and pricing to ensure profitability
Identify new market opportunities and event concepts
Financial Management
Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
Monitor food, labor, and operational costs
Analyze financial performance and implement improvement strategies
Approve major purchases and negotiate supplier contracts
Team Leadership & HR
Recruit, train, schedule, and manage staff across catering and event teams
Set performance goals and conduct evaluations
Foster a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment
Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
Client & Quality Management
Act as the main point of contact for key clients and high-profile events
Handle client feedback, complaints, and service recovery
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
Uphold brand standards and company values at all events
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
5-10 years of experience in catering, events, or hospitality management
Proven leadership and people-management skills
Strong financial, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
