Job Description


Role Title : General Manager - HR Business Partner Reports To : Vice President - HR Function/Department : Talent Planning, Business Partnering, Strategy, People Development Job Purpose : Partners with senior leadership to develop and implement effective HR policies and practices that will support the strategic growth of a Business Sets and aligns the Central HR talent strategy with a Business Plan to drive results defines and drives the delivery oftalent processes and programs Actively participates in the functional leadership teams as a partner to the business Organizational Chart : EVP HR GM - HR Business Partner Principal Accountabilities & Candidate Specs : HR Strategy Control & Governance Establish HR objectives in the Business Verticals in line with Business objectives. Develop Business strategies by identifying HR issues contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to Business strategic thinking and direction. Create and maintain the HR Project Portfolio, facilitate project reviews & prioritization, resource alignment, and laying effective governance practices. Craft HR Digital Strategy to improve Business/employee experience by incorporating HR technology/digital platforms. Talent Planning & Management Collaborate in design/revamp, develop, and implement strategy to support talent acquisition, development, and retention of staff. Partner with Talent Management and other Central teams to understand, share and support their objectives and ensure an effective and consistent approach to the delivery of the HR strategy. Support performance management/talent management initiatives in Business Verticals in order to ensure enhanced knowledge and skills sharing/transfer. Provide expert HR advice on complex people issues. Talent & Leadership Development Provide leadership to Business Verticals by building, motivating, and retaining a strong, results-oriented, and trusted team manage the Divisional budget develop performance metrics. Capable to work with top leadership for building commitment for leadership. Should have a sound understanding of business & its challenges and should be able to align with the thought process of business leaders. Partner with the leadership team to create and execute communication plans for core people programs and strategic initiatives. Co-create learning strategies and programs, evaluate individual and Business development needs and implement various learning methods. Exceptional leadership skills with high learning agility, a future-oriented outlook, with a demonstrated ability to create and lead strong teams by empowering people, fostering open dialogue. HR Policies & Procedures Co-create and establish HR policies that support the overarching Business strategy. Establish policies and procedures toprovide structure, control, consistency, fairness, and reasonableness. Ensure compliance with employment legislation. Labour & Industrial Relations Should have experience with various labor legislations and statutory obligations IR & Disciplinary actions handling Vigilance Cases, Discipline cases & grievances. Should have hands-on exposure in dealing with Unions. Major Challenges : Must have the experience or ability to appreciate the scale and complexity of Maruti Suzuki in terms of people, diversity, operations, etc. Should be a good cultural fit - maturity and patience to deal with diverse stakeholders, carry people along and balance various priorities. Decisions : Manpower planning, recruitment strategy, performance management strategy. Decisions on policy matters, Career Planning, and Talent Management. Dimensions : Financial : Annual HRBP budget - Approx. 2 crores Other : Total HR Business Partner Team Size: Approx. 8-10 Number of Direct Reports: 2 Skills & Knowledge : Educational UG (Full-time): Any graduate, any specialization. Engineering would be preferred, but not essential. PG (Ful-time): MBA/PGDM in HR/Industrial Relations, preferably from Tier1/2 Colleges Work Experience 20-25 Years Should have past experience of working in HR Business Partner as well as Industrial Relations profile Behavioral Competencies : Strong managerial abilities to deliver in a well-planned and organized manner. Pleasant personality, good interpersonal skills, approachable, stable career, and overall stable person. Good Leader with well-balanced exposure in HR and IR. Should be a good cultural fit - maturity, and patience to deal with diverse stakeholders, carry people along, and balance various priorities. Should come with a long-term view to his/her career in MSIL and hence invest in understanding the company, its vision & strategy, business operations, and culture. Functional Competencies : Contemporary experience in HR - Strategic development of the function, Talent Management, Talent and Leadership Development apart from Organization and Culture development
