Position: General Manager

Location: Maharaja Agrasen Palace, Lonavala

Department: Executive Management

Reports To: CEO / Director's

Role Overview

The General Manager is responsible for leading all hotel operations, ensuring excellent guest experiences, achieving financial targets, managing a diverse team of ~150 employees, and overseeing 118 guest rooms, multiple F&B outlets, and large lawn/banquet operations. The GM will drive quality, profitability, staff development, compliance, and brand standards while managing day-to-day operations smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management

Oversee day-to-day operations of Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Banquets, Kitchen,

Engineering, Security, and Sales.

Ensure smooth functioning of 118 rooms, multiple restaurants, bars, and large lawn banquet venues.

Monitor guest service delivery, quality control, cleanliness, safety, and maintenance.

Conduct regular property walks and departmental audits.

2. Revenue & Financial Management

Develop and implement revenue strategies to maximize room, F&B, banquet, and events revenue.

Manage budgets, P&L, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Work with Sales & Marketing to optimize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, banquet bookings, and promotional campaigns.

Control operational expenses, payroll costs, and inventory.

3. Staff Leadership & HR Management

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 150+ employees across all departments.

Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and succession planning.

Establish strong communication and teamwork culture.

Ensure compliance with HR policies, labor laws, and staff welfare standards.

4. Guest Experience Management

Maintain high standards of guest satisfaction and service excellence.

Handle VIP guests, service recovery cases, and major guest concerns.

Monitor guest feedback (online reviews, surveys) and implement improvements.

5. F&B and Banquet/Event Management

Oversee operations of multiple restaurants, room service, bars, and kitchens.

Ensure efficient management of lawn banquets, indoor banquet halls, conferences, and events.

Monitor menu planning, costing, hygiene standards, and service quality.

Work closely with the Events & Banquets team on planning, execution, and billing.

6. Compliance, Safety & Quality Standards

Ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements (health, hygiene, fire, safety).

Implement SOPs across all departments.

Oversee security protocols, emergency readiness, and risk management.

7. Sales, Marketing & Public Relations

Coordinate with the Sales team for room sales, corporate tie-ups, weddings, and banquets.

Support digital marketing, social media presence, and brand visibility.

Build strong relationships with local authorities, vendors, corporate clients, and partners.

8. Strategic Planning

Identify new business opportunities and operational improvements.

Develop long-term initiatives to enhance guest experience and profitability.

Assist in CAPEX planning, property upgrades, and technology improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent.

Experience

Minimum 8-12 years of hotel industry experience with at least 3-5 years as a General Manager / Resident Manager / Operations Manager.

Experience handling 100+ room hotels, multiple restaurants, and large banquet/event operations.

Skills

Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven experience in revenue management and financial acumen.

Expertise in guest service excellence.

Ability to manage multiple departments and large teams.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Familiarity with PMS, POS systems, and hospitality technology.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Guest satisfaction scores (GSS/TripAdvisor/Google reviews).

RevPAR, ADR, GOP, and overall P&L performance.

Staff retention and training effectiveness.

Banquet and restaurant revenue growth.

SOP compliance, hygiene audits, and safety metrics.
