Petrochemicals: Adani Group is making significant strides in the petrochemical landscape with the establishment of its inaugural petrochemical complex, named Green PVC. This initiative aligns with our broader strategy in the petrochemicals, oil & gas, and downstream sectors.The Petrochemicals Business Unit is spearheading the Green PVC project, which entails a substantial investment of INR 26,000 crore. This investment is focused on integrating the acetylene route to facilitate sustainable polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing. Currently in the execution phase, the project is on track to deliver its first product by June 2026.
Job Purpose: The Construction Manager - Plant is responsible for leading and managing all construction activities related to the plant facilities, OSBL areas, and utilities. This role encompasses overseeing the execution of projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and adhere to the highest quality and safety standards. The Construction Manager - Plant directs comprehensive planning and technical oversight, manages resources, coordinates with various stakeholders, and addresses operational challenges to achieve seamless integration of construction activities. This position ensures that all project requirements, from engineering specifications to regulatory compliance, are met efficiently, driving successful project outcomes and optimizing overall project performance.
Responsibilities:
Construction Manager - Plant-PETCHEM
Site Operations & Oversight:
Achieve timely project delivery by managing all construction activities for plant facilities, OSBL areas, and utilities, ensuring alignment with project plans, timelines, and quality standards.
Maintain consistent project progress by conducting Critical Path Analysis on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities, identifying and resolving potential bottlenecks.
Resolve daily operational challenges by addressing site-specific issues and coordinating with site engineers, supervisors, and contractors to adhere to the agreed schedule.
Ensure compliance with technical contract aspects by monitoring subcontractors at each stage of work through individual contacts and coordination meetings.
Verify accuracy and compliance by checking and authorizing all contractor claims and compliance before advising for payment.
Project Planning & Coordination:
Optimize resource deployment by planning and supervising major construction functions, including scheduling, construction input, resource mobilization, manpower, equipment, and materials planning. Ensure alignment with approved drawings, specifications, scope, cost, and quality limitations.
Facilitate seamless execution by maintaining effective communication with other unit heads and ensuring alignment of construction activities with overall project objectives.
Technical Design Review:
Ensure construction accuracy by reviewing and approving engineering design drawings, including P&IDs, GAs, and structural details, confirming compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for plant facilities, OSBL areas, and utilities.
Enhance constructability by identifying and resolving potential design conflicts before construction begins.
Compliance, Quality & Safety Management:
Ensure a safe work environment by implementing engineering systems and controls in compliance with Health & Safety regulations. Enforce adherence to required work permits, PPEs, and safety measures.
Promote zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and accidents by enforcing stringent safety measures and fostering a culture of safety awareness.
Control changes systematically by establishing procedures to capture and manage changes during various phases of project execution.
Monitor and manage budget variances to control costs effectively by reviewing budget versus expense.
Budget & Cost Control:
Control project costs by monitoring expenditures on labor, materials, and equipment related to plant facilities, OSBL, and utilities. Analyze variances and take corrective actions to stay within budgetary limits.
Ensure financial integrity by reviewing and authorizing contractor claims and payments, verifying measurement sheets and compliance with contractual terms.
Risk & Change Management:
Mitigate project risks by proactively identifying potential issues related to environmental, geological, or supply chain disruptions and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
Manage scope changes seamlessly by documenting and communicating modifications to project scope and technical details, ensuring minimal impact on timelines and costs.
Technology Integration & Innovation:
Enhance operational efficiency by integrating advanced technologies such as BIM, laser scanning, and project management tools into construction activities.
Drive innovation by applying modern construction practices, including modular construction and lean principles, to optimize project outcomes.
Commissioning, Handover & Post-construction Support:
Ensure successful project completion by overseeing the commissioning process, including system turnovers and final testing. Manage the handover to meet performance standards.
Address post-construction issues promptly by coordinating activities and ensuring resolution of defects.
Reporting & Coordination:
Provide regular progress updates by monitoring construction progress on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and contributing to regular reports for the Site Construction Head.
Ensure functional coordination by maintaining links with other unit heads, particularly with the Accounts and Administration units, to support coordinated project execution.
Team Management:
Achieve high team performance by directing, motivating, coaching, and managing project engineers. Monitor and support professional development.
Build a resilient team by addressing performance issues and supporting ongoing training and certifications to enhance team capabilities.

Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's / Diploma degree in any engineering discipline
Work Experience (Range of years):
Minimum 20 Years for bacehlor degree and 25 years for Diploma of relevant work experience to lead multi disciplinary construction work with 5 years minimum in the similar role in a large / mid sized organization
Experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders (Internal and External).
Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as knowledge of codes, standards and various acts.
Exposure of planning, budgeting and work estimation
Strong People Management skills along with exposure in managing large teams (Team size including Direct as well as indirect reports
