Job Description

A gemologist identifies, grades, and appraises gemstones using specialized equipment and scientific techniques, assessing their quality (color, clarity, cut, carat weight), authenticity, and value. Key responsibilities include detailed examination, accurate record-keeping, advising clients on gemstones and jewellery, staying current with industry trends, and issuing certification reports. Strong analytical skills, an eye for detail, communication, and expertise with gemmological tools are essential for this role, which can be found in laboratories, jewellery stores, and appraisal firms.

Identification and Grading: Accurately

identify different gemstones and grade them based on the 4Cs (colour, clarity, cut, and carat weight).

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills: Proficiency

in using gemmological instruments and understanding gemstone properties.

Analytical Skills: Ability

to meticulously examine and evaluate gemstones, including strong attention to detail.

Communication Skills: Excellent

ability to explain complex technical information to clients and colleagues.

Knowledge: Expertise

in gemstones, including their origin, characteristics, and market value.

Education: A

bachelor's degree in geology or a related field and professional gemmological certification are often required.

Experience: Experience

in the jewellery industry, particularly in appraisal, design, or repair, is beneficial.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
