Job Description

A General Duty Assistant (GDA), also known as a Nursing Assistant or Healthcare Assistant, provides essential support in healthcare settings by assisting with patient care and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Their responsibilities include assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and vital signs monitoring, as well as ensuring patient comfort and safety. GDAs work under the supervision of nurses and doctors, playing a crucial role in the overall patient care experience. Key Responsibilities of a General Duty Assistant:

Patient Care:

Assisting with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and toileting. Helping patients with mobility, including transferring them to and from beds or chairs. Feeding patients, including those who require assistance or special diets. Monitoring vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.

Maintaining a Safe and Clean Environment:

Ensuring patient rooms are clean and tidy. Changing bed linens and maintaining a comfortable environment. Disposing of waste and following infection control protocols.

Communication and Support:

Communicating with patients and their families, providing support and reassurance. Reporting any changes in a patient's condition to the nursing staff. Assisting with patient transportation within the facility.
