Role Description

Hybrid Monitoring and Capacity Platforms (HMCP) provides the foundation of the Bank's Production Engineering capabilities and is responsible for providing products, strategy and thought leadership across the Bank around Observability / Monitoring and Capacity Management. Alongside our Engineering, Architecture and SRE pillars, the HMCP Product and Strategy team is responsible for managing our portfolio of 8 products across the full lifecycle, providing leadership of vision, strategy, driving transformation including migration to GCP.

Each HMCP product is implemented globally is providing core product capabilities underpinning Availability, Event, Performance and Capacity Management used across the majority of the Bank's Infrastructure and Application estates, including Cloud.

HMCP are currently engaged in a multi-year transformation of Observability / Monitoring and Capacity Management across the Bank to support the Hybrid Cloud and other initiatives.

The successful candidate will be an experienced cloud computing engineer / developer who is able to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation in the Deutsche Bank on-premise / cloud infrastructure. To continue this transformation, we're seeking an experienced cloud computing engineer / developer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. This role will require cloud computing engineer / developer role to start with engineering products like new relic etc but will not be limited to it rather will have opportunity to enrich your technical capabilities in various product engineering and migration projects.

Your key responsibilities

We are seeking an exceptional engineer to work in the Hybrid Monitoring and Capacity Platforms team with 10+ years relevant experience. The team is responsible for the strategy and engineering of a broad portfolio of systems management applications including monitoring & event management, performance & capacity management. The team covers the development and engineering of a wide range of products and solutions.

The successful candidate will be a highly competent engineer who has knowledge in the systems management tooling domain, specifically with monitoring, metric and discovery technologies. This should include some experience in the development of either - monitoring technologies (agent and enterprise level tools), automated discovery, performance metrics capture & analysis and visualisation tooling capabilities.

The candidate should be willing to learn and embrace new technologies and keen to develop and broaden their systems management knowledge and skillset.

The candidate will be required to undertake a variety of architecture/development activities including:
  • Develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy cloud applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modelling, and advanced analytics
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for google cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
Your skills and experience
  • Experience in Google Cloud technologies (Computing, Storage, pub/sub, Terraform, Ansible, Dockers, Cloud function)
  • Experience in Open shift, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experienced in common scripting languages (Python, Perl, shell) and Java Programming with a passion for clean coding, architecture and software design patterns
  • Web technologies: JSP, SOAP, rest etc
  • Strong knowledge on monitoring scenarios and IT Domains
  • Database experience and SQL Scripting (Oracle, MSSQL)Angular or React UI Development
  • Familiarization and experience with Data transformation (ETL) and tools ( Pentaho
  • Competency in Windows and Unix admin skills
  • Automation and orchestration tools (Ansible)
  • Seasoned practitioner of software development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
  • Experienced in CI-CD and SDLC tools supporting the end-to-end pipeline (JIRA / Git / Bitbucket and the use of Pull Requests, Team City Artifactory, Jenkins, Automation (Ansible))
  • Strong testing methodology and experience (ideally in automated Unit testing and/or HP ALM)
  • Experience with static code analysis tools like Sonar
  • An understanding of the following technologies will be a plus: Python, R, PHP, Angular JS, Oracle / MySQL
