Job Description

A GCP Data Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, robust, and secure data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into effective data architectures, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and design end-to-end data solutions on GCP, focusing on data warehousing, big data platforms, and analytics use cases Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business requirements Implement data security frameworks and enterprise data architecture best practices to ensure data integrity and confidentiality. Establish and enforce data governance policies, including data quality, compliance, and metadata management. Build and optimize data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading using GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, DataProc, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, and Cloud Run. Design and implement solutions for both batch and real-time data processing, leveraging technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and GCP-native tools. Collaborate with clients, business analysts, developers, and architecture teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions. Prepare high-level and detailed data architecture and design documentation. Manage metadata and documentation using tools such as Erwin and data cataloging techniques. Stay updated on advancements in GCP services, data architecture trends, and related technologies. Provide guidance and mentorship to technical teams, ensuring best practices in data architecture and GCP usage.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 6 years of experience in a Data Architect role, with at least 2 years working on cloud data platforms (GCP preferred). Deep expertise in GCP data services: BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, DataProc, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Cloud Run. Strong proficiency in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), data warehousing, and big data platforms. Hands-on experience with Spark, Hadoop, and data pipeline orchestration tools. Solid understanding of data management, governance, and security frameworks. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and DBT (Data Build Tool) for data exploration and transformation. Experience with metadata management and documentation tools such as Erwin. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. GCP Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Architect certification is highly desirable.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Experience with data virtualization (e.g., Starburst), data mesh, and data fabric architectures. Familiarity with Teradata, IBM Cloud Pak, and other enterprise data platforms. Experience designing cloud architectures on other platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud) is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
