Position description: Lead a team of engineers to develop best in class high voltage electrical distribution systems for premium segment motorcycles. The role requires the successful candidate to be the gatekeeper of engineering best practice, and to deliver right first time designs for manufacture. This will require the candidate to manage a small group of engineers to resolve issues and conflicts a timely manner, escalating at the right time when required. Activities will focus on the development of motorcycle high voltage electrical systems, to include: electric motor, inverter, battery, BMS, DC-DC converters, HV components such as fuses/contactors/busbars, HV systems architecture, HV cabling and power distribution, approval of system requirement specification and deployment of requirement to various subsystem, and interface with the Low Voltage and Systems Team as required to achieve project deliverables. Candidates must also be up to date with latest regulations, and national and international standards, and ensure commonality is targeted with other projects and push this at a project and business level.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Management of the design of high voltage vehicle EE architecture and integration of vehicle EE components on various development stages.
• Disseminate knowledge and have hands on experience of HV systems, with ideally detailed familiarity of at least one drivetrain system component: motor/Inverter/battery etc.
• Disseminate requirements as received from the Systems Team and prepare and manage D&D plan in line with product development plan.
• Review and approve vehicle packaging of HV components on the Chassis and Powertrain, and impact on LV systems.
• Be gatekeeper of engineering best practice and promote a culture of high quality engineered solutions.
• Review and participate on DFMEA, proprietary part DFMEA, process capability and design reviews
• Manage the development of test simulations, failure analysis investigations, and EMC compliance of products.
• Usage of PLM tools for managing D&D activities as per QSP
• Interact with vendors and stake holders for part development, verification, and validation

Required Certification/s:

Software testing, automotive communication protocols

Functional Safety ISO 26262 certification is recommended

IATF 16949 - working knowledge, certified auditor qualification is recommended

Required Knowledge:

• Detailed familiarity of at least one HV drivetrain system component: motor/Inverter/battery etc.
• Automotive EE system integration and testing
• Knowledge & experience on EMI/ EMC, global standards & compliance procedures
• Knowledge on vehicle packaging of EE components and study of design for assembly, manufacturability
• Software and hardware verification and validation processes and sign-off.
• Knowledge and hands on experience on functional safety analysis
