Duties
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in and check-out processes
Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing inquiries using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Schedule patient appointments efficiently utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate with healthcare providers
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies
Assist with medical administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) such as Meditech or Dentrix
Support medical billing processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare requirements
Manage office supplies and ensure the front desk area remains organized and welcoming
Handle intake procedures for new patients, including collecting necessary information and explaining clinic policies
Support clinic staff with clerical tasks such as typing reports, updating care plans, and managing patient files
Skills
Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong front desk responsibilities
Knowledge of EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred
Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing procedures including Medicare guidelines
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in compliance with HIPAA standards
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Experience with insurance verification processes and understanding of health information management practices
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing processes
Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism at all times
Prior clinic or dental office experience is advantageous for understanding medical office workflows and terminology
Strong communication skills paired with a friendly demeanor to foster positive patient interactions
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in all tasks
