The Hospital Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and medical staff. This role is responsible for managing front-desk operations, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and directing inquiries in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. The receptionist plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries.
Schedule and confirm appointments using hospital scheduling systems.
Register new patients and update existing records accurately in the hospital management system (HMS).
Verify insurance details and collect co-pays or payments, if required.
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information (compliance, where applicable).
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth operations.
Handle administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and mail distribution.
Monitor waiting areas to ensure they remain clean and welcoming.
Assist with emergency situations following hospital protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Previous experience in a receptionist or front-desk role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office and hospital software (e.g., HMS, EHR systems).
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Criteria: Upto 20k
