Job Overview
The
Hospital Receptionist / Front Desk Executive
serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, representing the hospital's values of care, compassion, and professionalism. This role is responsible for managing front desk operations, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and handling inquiries -- both in person and over the phone. The receptionist ensures efficient patient flow, accurate record-keeping, and excellent customer service, contributing to a smooth and welcoming hospital environment.
The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
Register new patients and update existing patient information accurately in the hospital system.
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments and follow-ups.
Answer, screen, and direct phone calls; respond to inquiries or forward to appropriate departments.
Collect payments and issue receipts for consultation fees, tests, or other services.
Ensure the front desk and waiting area are neat, organized, and welcoming.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information as per hospital policies and data protection laws.
Coordinate with nursing, billing, and medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
Handle patient complaints or feedback courteously and escalate issues to the supervisor when needed.
Prepare and maintain daily reports, appointment logs, and visitor records.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
A background in information technology or a related field, often with a bachelor's or master's degree.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare front office preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in hospital management software (HMS/EHR systems),
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Compassionate, patient-oriented, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
