Position Summary Packet Optical Product Verification team at Ciena is responsible for verification and validation of Telecommunication and Networking Platforms & Solutions based on cutting edge Optical and Packet Networking Technologies from Layer0 to Layer3 (DWDM/OTN/Ethernet/MPLS etc). The test engineer\'s role requires a deep understanding of Network Technologies, end customer applications and knowledge of software programming to develop test automation. We are looking for enthusiastic and innovative students to join our team for a summer term. As a member of this team, you need to be a good communicator and a team player with willingness to learn. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Building an understanding of Ciena\'s Packet Optical systems, associated test equipment and tools Software programming for test automation framework and tools Supporting Product Verification engineers in setting up Test Environment and execution of test cases Note: Responsibilities can be further adapted based on capabilities and interests of the successful candidate. Experience/Skills required: Engineering/Computer Science/IT University student in 2/3/4th year. Knowledge of Data Structure & Algorithms is a must for working on automation framework and tools. Knowledge of transport technologies like OTN would be an asset for working on Test Environment and test execution. Experience using Linux OS would be a must. Knowledge of programming languages (preferably Python/Javascript/Java) would be an asset. Object-oriented concepts and skillsets would be an asset. Hands-on experience on GUI programming (e.g., Python QT, Python TkInter, React, JavaScript etc) would be an added advantage.
