Head of Languages / Academic Coordinator / Principal
Job Purpose:
To deliver high-quality French language instruction that supports the linguistic, cultural, and academic development of students, aligned with international curriculum standards (e.g., Cambridge, IB, CBSE as applicable).
Key Responsibilities:Teaching & Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging French language lessons (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) appropriate to the age and ability of students.
Use a range of instructional techniques and strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Integrate technology, games, and authentic materials to enhance language acquisition.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and interactive classroom environment.
Curriculum Development
Align lesson plans and assessments with school curriculum frameworks (e.g., Cambridge Primary/Lower Secondary, IGCSE, IB MYP/DP).
Contribute to the development and review of the school's French curriculum.
Incorporate cultural understanding and international perspectives into the language learning experience.
Assessment & Reporting
Assess students' progress through formative and summative methods.
Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance and attendance.
Provide regular feedback to students and communicate effectively with parents during PTMs and via school portals.
Prepare and administer internal exams and assist with external examinations (e.g., DELF, IGCSE, IB).
Pastoral & Co-Curricular Involvement
Support the overall development of students by participating in school activities, language clubs, and international events (e.g., French Week, Exchange Programs).
Mentor or guide students in language competitions, exhibitions, or MUN where applicable.
Professional Development
Engage in continuous professional learning and training sessions.
Stay updated with current methodologies and best practices in language teaching.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in French or related field.
Teaching certification (B.Ed./PGCE or equivalent) preferred.
Proficiency in French (DELF B2/C1 or equivalent qualification).
Minimum 2-3 years of experience teaching French in a school setting.
Familiarity with international curricula (Cambridge, IB, etc.) preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
