Job Description


As a member of the global Centre of Expertise (CoE), you will primarily be responsible for providing financial planning and forecasting analysis and reporting of sales and related revenue profile for the Research business unit as well as the day to day management of the sales environment of the Elsevier sales planning, budgeting and forecasting tool (Hyperion Planning) including loading and maintaining sales data. You will support the Research Sales & Revenue Finance Manager, and will be responsible for reporting and forecasting, developing key sales dashboards and forecasting tools, and producing other sales and revenue models. This role will also review current practices and develop tools to improve and standardise reporting and analysis of our products. In this role you will be required to have well developed analytical and modelling skills, be a self-starter with a can-do mentality in a complex and demanding environment, and have a keen eye for detail without losing sight of the bigger picture. Functional & Technical Competencies Financial skills: knowledge of financial technical accounting standards and revenue accounting techniques. Business skills: good knowledge of finance life cycles and processes. Communication skills: strong verbal and written communication skills. Technical skills: Excel (advanced level), MS office, Oracle Hyperion products. Languages: strong English skills (spoken and written). Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience University degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. 1-3 years relevant experience in a finance role, ideally working in a global organization in finance supporting a commercial organization. Knowledge and understanding of financial and management accounting processes and systems. Commercial and organizational awareness, ideally in a comparable industry. Must be an advanced level Excel user, including the build of financial modelling tools. Experience with manipulating large amounts of data, as well as the ability to quickly learn new systems/tools.
