Job Profile: Forging Manager*

Role Overview:

The Forging Manager is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the complete forging operations within an export-oriented hand-tool manufacturing environment. This role requires comprehensive management of productivity, quality, cost, safety, and discipline within the forging stage, utilizing LPG furnaces. The Forging Manager will ensure the efficient production of high-quality chrome-vanadium wrenches, ratchets, and flex-head components, suitable for global OEM and retail customers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management:

- Oversee daily forging operations in alignment with Production Planning and Control (PPC) plans.

- Manage the heating, soaking, and temperature control processes of LPG furnaces.

- Ensure a seamless workflow from blank heating to forging, trimming, and punching with minimal Work-In-Progress (WIP).

2. Quality Assurance:

- Maintain consistent forging quality with a focus on proper grain flow, dimensional accuracy, and defect-free outputs.

- Collaborate with the Quality Control (QC) team to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any rejections or rework.

3. Tooling and Die Management:

- Coordinate with the tool room for die trials, monitoring die life, reconditioning, and replacement.

- Maintain die history and shot tracking to minimize breakdowns, flash, underfill, and mismatch issues.

4. Process Improvement:

- Drive productivity improvements, fuel efficiency, and cost reduction initiatives.

- Optimize manpower and machine utilization across shifts.

- Enforce safety standards and maintain shop-floor discipline.

5. Continuous Improvement:

- Standardize processes and train operators to reduce rejection and rework.

- Align forging operations with downstream machining, heat treatment, and plating requirements.

6. Leadership and Team Management:

- Lead and manage a team of supervisors and operators, fostering a culture of throughput, consistency, and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

- Educational Background:

- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field is preferred.

- Experience:

- Extensive hands-on experience in drop forging operations, particularly for export markets.

- Proven track record in managing forging operations with LPG furnaces.

- Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and process sheets.

- Strong understanding of metallurgical parameters and material traceability.

- Leadership Abilities:

- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational challenges.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?40,000.00 - ?60,000.00 per month
