The HOD - Forensic Science will lead the department in academic, administrative, and research activities. The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership, foster academic excellence, mentor faculty, and develop innovative programs in forensic science education and research.
Key Responsibilities: Academic Leadership:
Oversee curriculum development, syllabus planning, and implementation in line with university and regulatory standards.
Promote student-centered learning and ensure high-quality teaching standards.
Ensure continuous improvement in academic programs through feedback and reviews.
Supervise practical lab sessions, case study analysis, and field work planning.
Department Administration:
Manage day-to-day operations of the department, including faculty workload distribution.
Conduct regular departmental meetings and maintain academic records.
Prepare departmental budgets, lab equipment procurement, and resource planning.
Ensure regulatory compliance with UGC/NAAC/AICTE guidelines, as applicable.
Faculty Management:
Recruit, train, and evaluate faculty members.
Provide mentorship, support faculty research, and promote professional development.
Facilitate collaboration across departments and interdisciplinary teaching.
Student Support & Engagement:
Monitor student progress, guide academic projects, and organize workshops/seminars.
Encourage participation in research, internships, and field investigations.
Address student grievances related to academics or departmental issues.
Research & Industry Collaboration:
Promote a research culture in forensic sciences and secure research funding.
Build industry linkages with forensic labs, police departments, legal institutions, etc.
Organize guest lectures, conferences, and collaborative projects.
Quality Assurance & Reporting:
Maintain academic audits, course files, and internal assessments.
Submit periodic reports to the management regarding departmental activities, results, and development plans.
Qualifications & Experience:
Ph.D. in Forensic Science or related field (mandatory).
Minimum 5-10 years of teaching/research experience in a recognized institution.
Proven track record of academic leadership and research publications.
Familiarity with forensic tools, lab procedures, case work, and court testimony is preferred.
