The Food Technologist will be responsible for supporting kitchen operations by applying food science and technology principles to ensure food quality, consistency, safety, and efficiency. The role involves working closely with chefs, kitchen associates, and quality teams to standardize recipes, improve processes, and maintain compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Food Quality & Standardization
Assist in developing and standardizing recipes for consistency in taste, texture, and nutrition.
Conduct sensory evaluation (taste, aroma, texture) of dishes and suggest improvements.
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to FSSAI / HACCP / ISO standards in food handling, storage, and preparation.
Maintain kitchen hygiene and sanitation in line with safety protocols.
Conduct regular checks for raw materials and finished products for quality assurance.
Process & Innovation
Assist in introducing new cooking methods, preservation techniques, and kitchen technologies.
Inventory & Documentation
Maintain records of raw material quality, food batch testing, and kitchen compliance reports.
Track ingredient usage and suggest substitutes to reduce wastage and improve efficiency.
Assist in setting food production SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
Team Support & Training
Train kitchen staff on food safety, hygiene, and proper handling techniques.
Support chefs in troubleshooting food quality issues.
Act as a bridge between culinary creativity and scientific accuracy.
Qualifications
:
Bachelor's degree / Diploma in
Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or Hotel Management (with specialization in Food Production/Technology
).
Certification in
Food Safety & Hygiene (FSSAI / HACCP) preferred
.
Prior experience in kitchens, food labs, or food production units is an advantage.
