Job Description

A Food Safety Officer (FSO) in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector is responsible for ensuring food products meet safety standards and regulations throughout the manufacturing and distribution process. This includes inspecting facilities, monitoring production, testing food samples, and enforcing compliance with food safety laws. The role aims to protect public health by preventing foodborne illnesses and maintaining high food quality standards. Key Responsibilities of an FMCG Food Safety Officer:

Facility Inspections:

Conducting regular inspections of food manufacturing plants, storage facilities, and distribution centers to assess hygiene, sanitation, and adherence to food safety protocols.

Process Monitoring:

Overseeing food production processes to ensure proper handling, processing, and storage techniques are followed, including temperature control and packaging.

Sample Collection and Testing:

Collecting samples of raw materials and finished products for laboratory analysis to detect harmful microorganisms, toxins, or other contaminants.

Food Safety Audits:

Performing audits to evaluate the effectiveness of food safety management systems and identify areas for improvement.

Compliance Enforcement:

Ensuring compliance with relevant food safety regulations, including the Food Safety and Standards Act, and taking appropriate action in cases of non-compliance.

Training and Education:

Providing training to food handlers and other personnel on food safety practices and hygiene standards.

Incident Investigation:

Investigating foodborne illness outbreaks and other food safety incidents to determine the root cause and prevent recurrence.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintaining accurate records of inspections, audits, and other food safety activities and preparing reports for management.

Quality Control:

Monitoring product quality to ensure it meets established standards and specifications, including labeling and nutritional information.

Staying Updated:

Keeping abreast of the latest food safety regulations, scientific advancements, and best practices.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in food technology, food science, microbiology, or a related field. Knowledge of food safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: ?38,000.00 - ?40,000.00 per month
