The Food Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital kitchen, ensuring the preparation and delivery of nutritionally balanced, safe, and hygienic meals to patients, staff, and visitors. The role involves managing kitchen staff, coordinating with dietitians, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and maintaining cost-effective food service operations.
Key Responsibilities
:
Operations Management
:
Supervise daily kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, and meal distribution.
Ensure timely preparation of meals as per patient diet charts and hospital schedules.
Nutrition & Compliance
:
Work closely with dietitians and clinical staff to ensure dietary requirements for patients are met.
Ensure food safety standards (FSSAI/ISO/HACCP) are followed rigorously.
Maintain hygiene and sanitation in all food handling areas.
Staff Supervision
:
Train, schedule, and supervise cooks, kitchen assistants, and cleaning staff.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and ensure staff follow hospital SOPs.
Inventory & Procurement
:
Oversee inventory of food supplies and kitchen equipment.
Coordinate with vendors for timely procurement of quality raw materials.
Budgeting & Cost Control
:
Monitor food service expenses and reduce wastage.
Ensure cost-effective menu planning without compromising nutritional quality.
Documentation & Reporting
:
Maintain accurate records of food production, wastage, patient meals, and staff meals.
Submit regular reports to the administration.
Qualifications
:
Basic Graduation
Fresher.
Skills Required
:
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent knowledge of nutrition and dietetics.
Ability to manage and train staff.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and hospital standards.
Proficiency in inventory and cost management tools.
Working Conditions
:
Hospital kitchen environment; may involve standing for long periods.
Early morning, late evening, and weekend shifts as needed.
