The ideal candidate should have hands-on knowledge of reefer systems, truck maintenance, vendor coordination, and preventive maintenance planning. This role is crucial for ensuring vehicle safety, temperature compliance, and uninterrupted fleet operations.
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of trucks, reefer units, and mounted containers.
Inspect vehicles regularly to identify mechanical issues, temperature faults, or breakdown risks.
Coordinate reefer servicing, calibration, gas refilling, compressor checks, and electrical repairs.
Ensure timely repair of breakdown vehicles and minimize downtime.
Vendor & Workshop Coordination
Coordinate with authorized service centers, workshops, and spare suppliers for vehicle and reefer repairs.
Negotiate pricing, compare quotations, and evaluate quality of vendor work.
Ensure availability of critical spare parts and maintain an updated inventory list.
Compliance & Safety
Maintain vehicle documents--PUC, insurance, fitness, permits, and statutory compliance.
Ensure reefer units meet temperature, calibration, and hygiene standards.
Conduct safety checks on brakes, tyres, lights, engine oil, coolant, and electrical systems.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, service history, and repair logs.
Track fuel usage, mileage, frequent breakdown patterns, and maintenance costs.
Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance MIS reports for management review.
Coordination with Operations
Work closely with fleet operations team to plan downtime and schedule servicing without disrupting dispatch.
Support drivers with technical guidance in case of breakdowns during transit.
Monitor GPS alerts and reefer temperature alarms to take timely action.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum
3 years of experience
in fleet or reefer maintenance (cold chain preferred).
Strong mechanical knowledge of trucks, reefer units (Thermo King, Carrier, Zanotti, etc.), and diesel engines.
Hands-on experience with electrical systems, cooling units, and preventive maintenance processes.
Proficient in MS Excel, reporting, and documentation.
Ability to handle emergency breakdowns efficiently.
Strong coordination and follow-up skills.
