Job Summary

A transportation fleet manager is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of a company's transportation fleet.

The job involves managing vehicle placements in a transport and logistics co. Reporting availability of vehicles, arranging advances and diesel through diesel cards for the vehicles, tracking of vehicles enroute and their likely reporting at destination. Planning return trips and deployment of vehicles after getting unloaded at consignees. Co-ordination with procurement cell for deployment of available vehicles.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Submitting Report of availability of vehicles from time to time.
2. Authorising payments of advances and diesel card payments
3. Arranging reimbursement of expenses incurred en-route.
4. Arranging payment of allowances for food, expenses etc.,

Driver Management :

Duty of the fleet manager for many companies is to manage the drivers. This includes hiring, training, and scheduling,

Tracking fleet metrics :

Fleet managers must then create reports using the metrics obtained from vehicle tracking. These reports list a fleet's key performance indicators (KPIs). Fleet reporting and analysis. On the back of vehicle tracking, fleet managers must then turn the metrics generated into reports.

7. Vehicle inspection and maintenance : V

ehicle servicing and inspection and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency, among other duties. Maintaining thorough records on vehicle inspections, maintenance activities, and registrations

9. Comply with local laws and regulations :

Ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Develop and maintain systems and processes for scheduling fleet vehicles

Monitor vehicle performance and fuel consumption.

Requirements :

Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management.

Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.

Ability to analyze data and generate reports.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Experience in budget management and cost control.
