Job Description

A Fitter Millwright installs, maintains, repairs, and moves heavy industrial machinery, requiring skills in blueprint reading, welding, rigging, and precise mechanical alignment (like shafts, bearings) to ensure complex equipment runs smoothly in factories, power plants, and construction, acting as a specialized industrial mechanic. Key duties involve disassembling/reassembling equipment, fabricating foundations, interpreting schematics, and fixing issues in hydraulic/mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:

• Installation: Assemble and build machinery, conveyors, and related structures from blueprints.
• Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical failures, and replace/repair parts for motors, pumps, and other complex systems.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and fix problems in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Precision Work: Align shafts, gears, and other components to tight tolerances, often using specialized tools.
• Dismantling & Moving: Safely take apart, move, and reassemble large equipment.
• Fabrication: Grind, file, and weld parts as needed.

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

• Mechanical Aptitude: Deep understanding of machinery, engines, pumps, conveyors, etc..
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Welding & Fitting: Proficiency with welding, brazing, and precise metal fitting.
• Rigging: Knowledge of lifting and moving heavy loads.
• Tool Proficiency: Expertise with hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, lifts).

Work Environment:

• Industrial settings like manufacturing plants, power generation facilities, construction sites, and mines.

Required Qualifications (Typical):
(e.g., ITI Fitter, Mechanical Engineering Diploma). * Experience as a fitter or industrial mechanic.
