The Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, aligning, and installing structural and mechanical components of ships as per drawings and specifications, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Fit, align, and assemble steel structures, plates, frames, pipes, and machinery parts.
Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and tack welding as required.
Ensure correct measurements, leveling, and alignment of components.
Work in coordination with welders, supervisors, and quality teams.
Follow safety procedures and shipyard regulations at all times.
Rectify fitting defects and carry out rework when necessary.
Requirements:
ITI / Trade Certificate in Fitter or relevant discipline.
Experience in shipbuilding or heavy engineering industry preferred.
Knowledge of ship structures, tools, and fitting techniques.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
