Job Description

Job Summary:

We are looking for experienced and skilled Fitters to be a part of our shipbuilding operations in Kochi. The role involves the assembly, fitting, and alignment of structural components, pipe systems, and mechanical parts on vessels under construction or repair.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, structural blueprints, and technical specifications. Fit, assemble, and install steel structures, foundations, brackets, supports, and other ship components. Align and tack-weld parts using hand tools and measuring instruments such as levels, plumb bobs, and squares. Conduct grinding, drilling, cutting, and fitting operations as per the ship design. Assist in the installation of piping systems and mechanical equipment on ships. Work with welders, pipefitters, and fabricators for proper alignment and structural integrity. Perform checks to ensure fit-up accuracy and structural tolerances. Maintain safety standards and follow shipyard procedures during all activities.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

ITI / Diploma in Fitting, Fabrication, or Mechanical Trade. 2-5 years of practical experience as a Fitter in shipbuilding or a heavy engineering environment. Strong knowledge of structural fitting, metalwork, and fabrication techniques. Familiarity with tools such as grinders, gas cutters, clamps, and measuring instruments. Ability to understand and follow technical drawings and instructions. Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces, heights, and marine environments. Commitment to safety and quality in all tasks.
