Job Description

Job Summary:

The Fitter will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and maintaining precision-engineered components and machinery parts according to technical drawings and specifications. The role demands a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and hands-on mechanical skills to ensure quality and dimensional precision.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Perform precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of components using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. File, grind, drill, and ream parts to ensure proper fit and finish. Assemble and install mechanical systems and sub-assemblies with close tolerances. Inspect completed components to verify conformance to specifications using gauges, micrometers, and calipers. Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues during assembly or operation. Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and organized condition. Adhere to all safety and quality standards of the organization. Collaborate with machinists, welders, and design engineers for modification or improvement of components.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of precision fitting and assembly techniques. Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings. Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools and instruments. Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude. Basic understanding of machining and fabrication processes. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.

Qualification and Experience:

Education:

ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical, or related trade.

Experience:

2-5 years of experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.

Preferred Industry:

Machine tools, aerospace, defense, automotive component manufacturing, or similar precision industries.
