Key Responsibilities:

Reading and Interpreting Technical Drawings:

Fitters and turners analyze blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand the requirements for manufacturing and assembling components.

Machining and Fabrication:

They use machine tools like lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills to shape metal parts to precise dimensions.

Assembly and Installation:

They fit and assemble fabricated metal parts, sub-assemblies, and complete machines, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.

Maintenance and Repair:

They diagnose machine malfunctions, perform preventative maintenance, and repair or replace worn or damaged parts.

Quality Control:

They use precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and fit of fabricated parts and assembled components.

Following Safety Procedures:

They adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

Proficient in using various machine tools, measuring instruments, and hand tools.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and develop solutions.

Attention to Detail:

Precision and accuracy are crucial in their work.

Physical Fitness:

Fitters and turners need to be able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and understand technical drawings and communicate effectively with others.
