. The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in fabrication, structural fitting, welding assistance, and mechanical fitting for marine components such as hulls, piping systems, and vessel structures.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
fabrication and fitting works
on ships, barges, offshore platforms, and marine structures.
Cut, bend, shape, and assemble metal sheets, pipes, and steel plates as per drawings.
Assist welders and ensure proper alignment, fit-up, and finishing of components.
Read and interpret
engineering drawings, isometrics, and layout plans
.
Carry out fitting works for
hulls, bulkheads, piping systems, supports, brackets, foundations, and structural parts
.
Ensure quality control, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with marine standards.
Operate fabrication tools: grinders, gas cutting sets, hydraulic presses, drills, and measuring instruments.
Conduct repair, modification, and rework as required during ship maintenance or refits.
Follow safety regulations, PPE usage, and permit-to-work systems onboard.
Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and QA/QC teams to complete tasks efficiently.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of
marine structural fitting and fabrication techniques
Ability to read
technical drawings and fabrication sketches
Experience in
steel plate and pipe fabrication
Good knowledge of alignment, levels, tolerances, and measurement instruments
Understanding of basic welding processes (MIG, ARC, TIG - assist level)
Safety-conscious with awareness of marine yard practices
Problem-solving skills and team coordination abilities
