Summary:

The Turner is responsible for operating lathes and other machinery to shape metal and other materials to precise specifications. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, maintaining machinery, and ensuring the quality of finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

Machining Operations:

Operate manual or CNC lathes to cut, shape, and finish components. Perform tasks such as turning, threading, knurling, boring, facing, and drilling.

Technical Work:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders. Measure and mark dimensions of raw materials accurately. Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Machine Maintenance:

Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance. Replace or repair machine components when necessary. Follow safety protocols to prevent machine downtime.

Quality Control:

Inspect finished components for accuracy and conformance to specifications. Adjust machinery to correct deviations from specifications.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.

Collaboration:

Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists to meet production goals. Provide feedback on designs or processes to improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or an apprenticeship in machining or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in operating lathes (manual and CNC). Knowledge of machining techniques and materials. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Attention to detail. Problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment:

Typically works in a manufacturing or workshop environment. May involve standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Pay: ?20,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
