Role Overview




Senior Firmware Architect role within the R&D function, responsible for defining, designing, and owning the embedded firmware architecture of industrial and embedded electronic products. Accountable for delivering robust, high-performance, and compliant firmware solutions from concept through mass production.

Key Responsibilities




Lead end-to-end embedded firmware architecture and development, including requirement analysis, application study, standards review, and firmware design. Define and implement firmware strategies to optimize performance, reliability, efficiency, code coverage, and development timelines. Analyse, debug, and resolve complex firmware issues across the product lifecycle. Ensure firmware compliance with defined product specifications and industry standards. Conduct and approve firmware design reviews, DFMEA, validation methodologies, and test results prior to product release.

Project & Delivery Management




Prepare and track firmware development plans and schedules across multiple projects. Supervise project execution, monitor timelines and costs, and report progress to senior management. Support project costing and resource planning.

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration




Work closely with hardware, software, PCB, testing, manufacturing, QA, and product engineering teams to ensure seamless design-to-production transition with strong DFM focus. Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, and Application teams to understand application requirements and define firmware specifications. Interface with customers, suppliers, and external test facilities for technical discussions, field issues, and validation support.

People & Performance Management




Lead and mentor the firmware development team, including identifying resource and tooling needs. Define KRAs, track performance, recognize key contributions, and manage performance documentation in coordination with HR and leadership. Drive team capability building and continuous improvement.

Skill & Experience Expectations




12-15 years of experience in embedded firmware design and architecture. Strong expertise in embedded systems, microcontrollers, RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Embedded Linux), bootloaders, device drivers, and embedded C. Hands-on experience with firmware development tools, debuggers, simulators, and optimization techniques. Solid understanding of controller peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, etc.) and basic embedded hardware. Exposure to industrial communication protocols (MODBUS, Ethernet/IP, Profinet), PLC/HMI architecture, embedded cybersecurity, and use of Gen-AI tools is a plus. * Strong leadership, project management, analytical, and communication skills.
