Attend kick-off meetings and finalize Fire Protection Engineering requirements.
Understand requirements and develop detailed specifications for fire protection systems and equipment.
Conduct technical and project investigations for various fire extinguishing systems (clean agent, inert gas, carbon dioxide, wet chemical, water mist and aerosol).
Deliver requisition on time and with expected Quality level on our projects or NPI.
Meet drawing release timelines as per program schedules.
Deliver the system design baseline and be responsible for all technical deliverables.
Prepare fire protection system layouts, drawings and documentation: New Part Release, Arrangement Drawings.
Understand circuit diagram to implement the linkage between different components of fire suppression system.
Assist manufacturing team for installing and verification of fire suppression system.
Provide technical support for fire protection system projects. Support Field modification instruction (FMI), ER Case, NCR, SDR, RFI, etc.
Ensure design meets codes and regulations for fire safety and suppression systems.
Design fire protection systems in accordance with national and international fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, ISO, etc.)
Standardize the fire suppression system across all locomotive applications.
Design and estimate fire suppression systems including:
Gas suppression systems (foam, water mist)
Water-based systems (mechanical, sprinkler, mist, high-velocity water)
Fire alarm systems
Fire extinguishers
Fire Detectors
IR and UV detectors
Interact with cross functional team as manufacturer/supplier, sourcing, Drafting team, Configuration, Electrical Team, etc.
Work with manufacturing plant to ensure proper installation of fire protection systems.
Ability to work closely with Machine architect, Technical Leaders to maintain team synergies, lessons learned and best practices.
Stay up-to-date on the latest fire protection technologies and codes.
Work Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 6-10 years of experience in fire protection engineering, preferably in the power generation industry. Experience in designing and specifying fire protection systems for industrial facilities.
Strong knowledge of national and international fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, ISO, etc.).
Must have Proficient in UG NX and Teamcenter
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
