Fire and Safety Officer - Manufacturing Unit (Lift Industry Experience Preferred)

Job Purpose:
To ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities by implementing and maintaining fire prevention, safety systems, and emergency response programs in compliance with statutory regulations and company policies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in manufacturing environments, particularly in lift/elevator production or installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Fire Safety & Prevention
Conduct regular inspections of fire safety systems, including alarms, hydrants, extinguishers, sprinklers, and emergency exits.
Develop and implement fire prevention programs and conduct fire drills and evacuation exercises.
Coordinate with local fire authorities for inspections and audits.
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
Identify hazards and assess risks associated with plant operations, including mechanical, electrical, and lift manufacturing processes.
Ensure compliance with safety norms as per Factories Act, NBC, and other statutory requirements.
Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and training programs for all staff and contractors.
Incident Management
Investigate accidents, near misses, and fire incidents; prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain incident records and follow up on implementation of safety recommendations.
Emergency Preparedness
Develop and maintain the site's emergency response plan.
Train emergency response teams for fire, medical, and other crises.
Ensure availability and readiness of emergency equipment.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain records of fire NOCs, statutory inspections, and certifications.
Liaise with statutory authorities (Factory Inspectorate, Pollution Control Board, Fire Department, etc.).
Support internal and external safety audits.
Lift-Specific Safety (Desirable)
Supervise lift installation/testing safety protocols.
Ensure lockout/tagout procedures and safe electrical practices during maintenance.
Conduct risk assessments specific to lift assembly, testing pits, and mechanical operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Diploma/B.Tech in Fire & Safety / Industrial Safety / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
Certifications:
Government-approved Fire & Safety certification preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA).
Experience:
2-4 years of experience in Fire and Safety in a manufacturing setup; experience in
lift/elevator manufacturing or installation
will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of fire safety systems, OHS regulations, and emergency management.
Hands-on experience with safety audits and statutory compliance.
Good communication and training skills.
Proficient in MS Office and safety management reporting.
Leadership qualities with the ability to influence and drive safety culture.

Reduction in incident/accident rates.
100% compliance with statutory and internal safety audits.
Successful completion of fire and evacuation drills.
Improvement in safety training participation and awareness levels.
