The Fire Alarm Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarm systems across commercial, residential, and industrial projects. The role includes ensuring compliance with national safety standards and maintaining system integrity through troubleshooting and technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Planning:
Review and interpret fire system layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
Plan and design fire alarm systems based on client requirements and local regulations.
Conduct site surveys and prepare material and installation BOQ.
Installation & Commissioning:
Oversee or execute installation of fire alarm panels, detectors, manual call points, hooters, etc.
Configure and program control panels for addressable and conventional systems.
Commission systems by performing loop tests, functionality checks, and integration with BMS or third-party systems.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems.
Perform periodic maintenance and health check-ups of installed systems.
Maintain service records and reports for audit and compliance purposes.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure systems comply with national fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA, NBC, IS2189).
Coordinate with safety officers, civil engineers, and local authorities for fire NOC approvals.
Client Coordination & Documentation:
Provide technical support and training to clients or site personnel.
Prepare technical reports, handover documentation, and as-built drawings.
Maintain communication with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
Key Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Ravel, Morley, GST, etc.)
Familiarity with wiring layouts, termination, panel configuration, and system integration.
Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on field experience.
Good communication and client-handling skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Travel:
Required for on-site work and project deployment.
Experience Required:
2-5 years in fire alarm system installation & commissioning
Qualification:
Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field
