1. Role Summary
The Financial Controller will serve as the strategic custodian of the organisation's financial discipline, driving robust controls, accurate reporting, and cost leadership across all printing & packaging units. The role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure seamless financial governance in a fast-paced, multi-plant manufacturing ecosystem.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Lead monthly MIS, plant-wise P&L, balance sheet, and cash-flow reporting.
Analyse cost variances, yield losses, material wastage, downtime, and productivity metrics.
Provide actionable insights to plant heads and senior leadership to drive profitability.
B. Costing & Budgetary Control
Oversee standard costing, job-order costing, machine-hour costing, and product costing for all packaging SKUs.
Validate BOM, material consumption norms, machine efficiencies, and cost absorption.
Monitor budget vs. actuals and lead corrective actions with operations.
C. Financial Controls & Compliance
Implement strong internal controls, audit mechanisms, and compliance with statutory laws (GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act).
Ensure accurate provisioning, book closures, annual audit preparedness, and ledger hygiene.
Drive internal audits across plants to eliminate leakages and financial risks.
D. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Monitor receivables ageing, credit control, payment terms, and inventory levels.
Optimise working capital through disciplined payables management, capex planning, and vendor reconciliations.
Ensure timely forecasting of fund requirements for multi-unit operations.
E. Plant Finance Operations
Oversee day-to-day plant-level finance operations: GRN, material issue, job cards, production reports, FG dispatches, WIP valuation, and payroll coordination.
Validate production reconciliation (paperboard, laminate rolls, inks, plates, dies, wastage).
Collaborate with production and supply chain for accurate reporting and traceability.
F. Governance, Risk & Audit
Lead periodic risk assessment across all finance processes.
Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, and consultants.
Strengthen SOPs for procure-to-pay (P2P), order-to-cash (O2C), and record-to-report (R2R).
G. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Guide plant accounts teams, ensure capability-building, and drive high-performance culture.
Work closely with MD/CEO, COO, CFO, Sales, Production, and HR to support strategic decision-making.
3. Required Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualification
CA / CMA preferred
MBA (Finance) or M.Com with strong manufacturing finance exposure will be considered
Experience
8-15+ years
in Finance & Accounts
Minimum
5 years in printing & packaging, flexible packaging, folding cartons or FMCG manufacturing
Multi-plant exposure preferred
Technical Skills
Strong command in SAP / ERP (Navision, Oracle, Tally Prime ERP, etc.)
Proven expertise in costing, GST compliance, audit, and MIS
Advanced Excel, financial modelling, dashboards
Knowledge of machine costing, process costing and waste tracking
