The Accounting Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties, preparing and managing monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, and owning the accounting for Revenue and Accounts Receivable.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities
Lead Revenue Transformation Initiatives: Identify, analyze, and implement opportunities to automate and streamline revenue recognition processes, from data ingestion to financial reporting.
System Optimization & Integration: Work closely with IT and other departments to optimize our existing revenue systems and explore new tools and integrations that enhance efficiency and data integrity.
Process Documentation & Improvement: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of revenue accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and identifying areas for continuous improvement.
Data Analysis & Reporting Automation: Design and implement automated solutions for revenue data extraction, analysis, and reporting, providing timely and accurate insights to stakeholders.
Revenue Recognition & Reconciliation: Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Technical Accounting Research: Assist in researching and interpreting complex revenue accounting guidance (ASC 606) and ensuring compliance across all revenue streams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, operations, legal, and IT teams to understand new revenue streams, product offerings, and business models, ensuring proper accounting treatment and system setup.
Internal Controls: Identify and implement strong internal controls over revenue processes to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting, finance or business and either be on a path to achieve your accounting designation (CPA) or have your CPA
Have a minimum of three to five (2-3) years' experience in finance or accounting, in a financial institution would be an asset
Have experience with full-cycle accounting
Be eager to apply your knowledge of financial accounting principles to everything that you do
Be an expert in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office products
Be comfortable using General Leger software; example Sage Intacct
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Be quick to respond to requests for service from all of your clients
Inherently demonstrate a high level of integrity and be trustworthy
Be more than approachable with your superior interpersonal skills
Innately demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills
