\xe2\x80\x93 Fund Accounting - Manager
Designation - Manager Role type - Reviewer & Supervisory
Technical Experience The Manager should have prior experience in subject matter expert role on working with a fund administrator and have exposure in fund accounting and technology/fund accounting systems.
- Strong experience in preparation and review of financial statements (under USGAAP, IFRS) for mutual funds, hedge funds and private equity funds including the following:
- Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Partners\xe2\x80\x99 Capital, b) Statement of Operations, c) Statement of Changes in Partners Capital, d) Statement of Cash Flows, e) Schedule of Investments and f) Notes to Financial Statements including related disclosures.
- Strong experience in audit preparedness and financial statement close processes, coordination with onshore team members and handling auditor queries etc, for various funds.
- Working knowledge and clear understanding of relevant regulatory guidance for investment funds including USGAAP, AICPA requirements is preferred.
- Deeper understanding of various fund structures like Master-Feeder, Fund of Funds, Blocker entities etc. and working knowledge of various investment products like equity and derivative instruments along with related accounting aspects.
- Working knowledge and clear understanding in various fee structures, calculation of management fees and performance fees including carried interest, preferred return and clawback provisions.
- Experience in operational aspects like NAV finalization, reconciliations, management reporting and investor reporting, reconcile investor capital balances and allocation of Profit & Loss.
- Understanding of core functions of investment funds (Front office, middle office and back office functions)
- Understanding and working knowledge of the current accounting and financial reporting operating environment for various funds managed by the asset manager.
- Understanding and knowledge of fund investment strategies like venture capital, leverage buyouts, distressed debt etc, is preferred.
Managerial Responsibilities Broadly, the key responsibilities are:
- Be a coach / mentor to a team of Seniors and Staff\xe2\x80\x99s and train them to deliver high Quality industry specific work on time and within the time estimates made and agreed with the US engagement teams / key stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key EY industry leaders and contacts to grow GDS business.
- Establishing expectations of value to be delivered on the engagements worked on from GDS.
- Building fund accounting knowledge and capabilities within the GDS teams.
- Identify opportunities to standardize and optimize the processes across a portfolio of clients and the industry to improve efficiency.
- Develop an understanding of EY\xe2\x80\x99s Quality and Risk Management procedures, and ensure these are embedded into the GDS team\'s deliverables.
- Demonstrate professionalism, industry competence and clarity of communication when dealing with the engagement team.
- Use technology (on specific areas of work), continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery.
- Contribute to technical/functional and soft-skills training to continually develop the team\'s skills on industry specific areas of work.
- Be a performance manager to guide and coach GDS professionals on career advancement and provide continuous feedback throughout the performance year on their development areas.
- Actively participate and lead overall performance development and feedback process at team level and at overall GDS level.
- Prior team and people management skills and ability to handle stakeholder relationships are essential.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Qualified CA / US CPA / ACCA along with Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 degree in Finance & Accounting.
- Demonstrates an expert level understanding of fund accounting processes, concepts, and terminologies in a reporting/audit environment.
- 7 \xe2\x80\x93 9 years of post-qualification experience in Global Investment Company / Bank / Fund Administrator in similar work profile.
- Experience with Big 4/leading Audit firms/Fund Houses or their shared service center would be preferred.
