The Opportunity

Lead month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting for Council and CCOs. Prepare statutory financial documents, support audits, and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory obligations. Maintain and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls. Analyse financial data and provide clear, actionable advice to support strategic decisions. Provide guidance and training to staff on financial and compliance matters.

About You

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or equivalent; CA qualified or working towards it. 5-6 years' senior accounting experience, preferably in local government or similar. Strong knowledge of financial and management accounting, reporting, and internal controls. Skilled in financial systems (Magiq, MYOB) and advanced Excel. Analytical, proactive, and able to communicate complex financial information clearly. Adaptable, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. You will be based in Napier CBD.


The annual salary package for this role is between $98,600 - $116,100 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
