POSITION SUMMARY



We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented

Finance & Payroll Manager

to oversee our financial operations, payroll processing, and day-to-day administrative functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with

Xero accounting software

, a solid understanding of Canadian tax regulations, and the ability to assist in administrative processes that support overall business operations. This role requires precision, discretion, and exceptional organizational skills to balance both financial and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES



Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations. Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees and contractors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws, payroll regulations, and statutory reporting requirements. Prepare government remittances (GST/HST, payroll taxes, T4s, ROEs, etc.). Maintain and update financial records in Xero; generate accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Support audits and ensure adherence to internal controls. Collaborate with admin manager and leadership on payroll and compensation matters. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making. Continuously improve financial processes, systems, and reporting practices. This role may also require providing additional support across administration, strategy, and operations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation or working towards CPA is a strong asset). Experience at a Big 4 accounting firm or in an equivalent professional services environment is a plus. An interest in or prior experience with AI, Web3 and blockchain is also an asset. Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Payroll Manager, or in a similar financial leadership role. Strong expertise with Xero accounting software (required). In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations, employment standards, and tax compliance. Experience preparing and filing government remittances (T4s, ROEs, GST/HST, etc.). Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High degree of integrity and ability to handle confidential information. Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular) and other financial tools. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively across teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure complex information and deliver high-quality recommendations under pressure. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Self-starter with a high degree of initiative, ownership, and adaptability in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Proficient in productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, etc.)

COMPENSATION



Competitive salary range, based on experience. Base salary paid bi-weekly. Mid-year performance evals, and BD bonuses available for all employees. Annual company profit sharing and year-end discretionary bonuses. Annual or biennial company retreat in a foreign country/location. Ability to invest in our clients in exclusive private or pre-seed rounds before they go public.
