The Finance Officer is responsible for managing the organization's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance. The role ensures that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, analyzed, and reported in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Record, verify, and reconcile financial transactions in the accounting system.
Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and journal vouchers.
Ensure timely posting of accounts payable and receivable.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor actual expenditures against budget allocations and report variances.
Provide financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
3. Financial Reporting
Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
Generate management reports and financial summaries as required.
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and deadlines.
4. Compliance & Audit
Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
Support compliance with tax, legal, and regulatory obligations (VAT, income tax, etc.).
5. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Monitor and manage cash balances and bank transactions.
Support cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
Process payments, fund transfers, and petty cash disbursements.
6. Coordination & Support
Liaise with other departments to support financial planning and analysis.
Provide financial information for project proposals, grants, or donor reports (if applicable).
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
(Master's degree or professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is an advantage.)
Experience:
Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or audit roles.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, or ERP systems).
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
