Job Description




Key Responsibilities:

1. Agreement Management & Review



Review and ensure completeness of each project agreement from an accounting perspective.



Maintain a register of all active agreements with relevant accounting checkpoints.



Liaise with legal and project teams to understand key clauses affecting financial reporting (e.g., performance obligations, penalties, warranties, revenue milestones).



Interpret commercial clauses to determine accounting treatments in compliance with applicable standards (e.g., Ind AS, IFRS).



Document summary memos of key financial implications for each agreement.



2. Accounting of Contractual Clauses



Identify and account for performance-based revenue recognition, variable considerations, and milestone payments.



Ensure correct classification and recognition of revenue, cost of projects, and deferred revenues.



Maintain proper documentation to support judgments made in revenue and cost recognition.



3. Contingent Liabilities Documentation



Track and record contingent liabilities arising from contractual commitments, guarantees, litigation, or potential claims.



Create and maintain a Contingent Liability Register updated on a monthly basis.



Collaborate with legal and project teams to evaluate the likelihood of occurrence and estimate financial impact.



Ensure disclosures are aligned with applicable accounting standards and audit requirements.



4. Provisions for Liabilities



Monitor contractual obligations and create adequate provisions for expected project liabilities (e.g., penalties, rework, warranty claims).



Maintain working papers and evidence for the basis of provisioning.



Review provisions on a monthly basis and update based on project developments and risk assessments.



5. Receivables Management & Automation



Design and implement automated tools or dashboards (e.g., using Excel VBA, Power BI, ERP tools) to track and age project receivables.



Monitor overdue accounts and flag critical risks to finance and project management teams.



Prepare monthly aging reports with comments, expected recovery dates, and provisioning needs (as per company policy).



Coordinate with the billing team and project leads to ensure timely invoicing and dispute resolution.



6. Internal Controls & Compliance



Implement internal controls for project-related financial transactions.



Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and applicable statutory regulations.



Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations, supporting documentation, and walkthroughs.



7. Reporting & Analysis



Prepare monthly reports on project financial performance, aging of receivables, provisions, and contingent liabilities.



Participate in project review meetings to provide financial insights and highlight risk areas.



Develop financial dashboards for leadership visibility.
