As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Finance Manager / Head of Finance to lead our finance function and ensure the company's financial integrity, compliance, and strategic growth.
Position Summary
The Finance Manager / Head of Finance will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, taxation, and insurance policy finance management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within the insurance industry, with a strong background in tax planning, insurance policy financial operations, and regulatory compliance.
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for ensuring financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and adherence to both local and international financial standards.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the company's full financial operations -- accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and insurance regulatory requirements in Mozambique.
Manage and optimize tax planning, reporting, and compliance, ensuring alignment with corporate and statutory requirements.
Lead financial aspects of insurance policy management, including premium recognition, claims payments, reinsurance settlements, and investment income allocation.
Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and performance analyses for the executive team and board.
Develop and implement effective financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Manage internal and external audits and maintain strong relationships with auditors, regulators, and tax authorities.
Support strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and scenario analyses.
Drive initiatives to improve profitability, efficiency, and capital management.
Lead, train, and mentor the finance team to ensure excellence in financial operations and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree, CPA, or ACCA preferred).
Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry, with leadership or senior finance role.
Strong experience in tax management, insurance policy accounting, and regulatory reporting.
Deep understanding of insurance financial operations -- premiums, claims, reinsurance, and reserves.
Solid knowledge of IFRS, insurance regulations, and Mozambique's tax framework.
Proven experience managing financial audits and liaising with regulatory authorities.
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Fluency in English required; proficiency in Portuguese highly advantageous.
