A senior finance leader responsible for overseeing financial planning, analysis, and operations within the retail business. This role supports strategic decision-making, ensures financial integrity, and enables operational excellence across retail channels (e commerce, stores, and omnichannel platforms).
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning Lead annual and multi year financial planning (budgets, forecasts, long term models) across retail lines of business. Provide analysis to inform retail strategy--assess market trends, customer segmentation, pricing strategies, and promotional frameworks. Advise on capital investments (e.g. new stores, logistics, technology infrastructure). Performance & Analytics Manage P&L responsibility: drive retail margin expansion, monitor sales, operating costs, and key profit levers. Setup and maintain KPIs for gross margin, inventory turnover, markdowns, customer acquisition costs (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), and same-store sales. Deliver financial performance commentary and dashboards to executive leadership and board members. Retail Operations & Finance Processes Oversee inventory planning, sourcing, allocation, pricing optimization, and demand forecasting. Collaborate with operations to streamline supply chain, logistics, and distribution efficiencies. Guide store finance functions (e.g., point-of-sale reconciliation, cash flow controls, shrinkage prevention). Commercial & Pricing Alignment Partner with merchandising and pricing teams to develop effective promotional planning and markdown optimization. Evaluate channel-wise margin & ROI; recommend pricing changes to balance gross profit with competitive positioning. Finance Controls & Compliance Enforce strong internal controls across retail operations. Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards (e.g. IND AS / IFRS, GAAP). Coordinate with internal and external auditors; manage risk and SOX-related initiatives. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership Lead and mentor a high-performing retail finance team (e.g. FP&A analysts, store finance controllers). Collaborate with cross functional teams: merchandising, e commerce, supply chain, operations, IT. Communicate strategic finance insights to senior management and the board.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting; MBA or CA preferred. Typically 10+ years of finance experience, including leadership in retail, CPG, e commerce or consumer discretionary industries. Proven track record in driving retail margin, planning, and financial transformation.
Technical
Skills
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills. Experience with ERP and business intelligence tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, Tableau, Power BI). Familiarity with retail data systems: POS, demand forecasting, PLM, inventory analytics.
