About the Role:



We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Compliance Officer to take full ownership of finance operations, statutory compliance, tax governance, and regulatory reporting for our India entity. This role will oversee end-to-end accounting, strengthen compliance frameworks, manage India's statutory audit, handle transfer pricing documentation, and support consolidation and reporting for the group.

This is a high-visibility position that works closely with the Managing Director - India and partners extensively with the Group Financial Controller across treasury, reporting, and global accounting processes.



Key Responsibilities:



India Finance Operations (Ownership of Local Books)

Manage day-to-day accounting for the India entity including AP/AR, invoice processing, vendor payments, and credit-card reconciliations. Perform monthly bank reconciliations, GL reviews, and ensure complete and accurate books in Xero. Lead month-end closing including journals, accruals, reclasses, depreciation, and intercompany adjustments. Support treasury management, cash-flow planning, and funds coordination.

Tax & Statutory Compliance (Primary Focus)

Monthly / Quarterly / Annual Compliance

TDS: Monthly payments, monthly returns, and quarterly Form 24Q/26Q/27Q filings. GST: Monthly/quarterly filings, ITC reconciliation, and GST audit preparation. Advance Tax: Computation and timely remittances. Labour Law: PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Shops & Establishment Act compliance. Income Tax: Annual return filing, tax audit preparation, and audit coordination.

Statutory Audit (High Priority)

Act as the primary liaison for the statutory audit of India financial statements. Prepare audit schedules, lead walkthroughs, respond to auditor queries, and ensure timely and accurate audit closure. Strengthen audit readiness through reconciliations, documentation, and compliance accuracy.

Transfer Pricing & Intercompany Compliance

Prepare and maintain Transfer Pricing documentation and intercompany agreements. Support TP audits, assessments, and technical reviews. Strengthen intercompany invoicing and reconciliation processes to align with global standards.

Regulatory Governance

Maintain a complete compliance calendar to ensure zero delays. Manage tax consultants and evaluate service quality. Maintain statutory documents, agreements, and compliance archives.

Internal Controls, Process Improvement & Documentation

Strengthen internal controls across accounting, tax, and compliance workflows. Build SOPs, checklists, and process documentation for India. Identify process gaps and lead improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and compliance efficiency.

Payroll Support

Serve as interim payroll backup until transition to a dedicated Payroll Officer. Support salary computation, statutory deductions, and monthly filings. Ensure timely salary payments and accurate documentation.

Group Support & Management Reporting

Support monthly management accounts, consolidation inputs, intercompany reconciliations, and treasury updates. Provide accounting support to the Australia entity when needed. Assist with financial reviews and cross-entity reporting packs.

Requirements:



Skills & Experience Required:



Technical Expertise (Mandatory):



Strong hands-on experience in Indian statutory compliance including TDS, GST, Advance Tax, PF, ESI, PT, Income Tax, tax audits, and statutory audits. Proven experience managing statutory audits with strong audit readiness. Strong foundation in accounting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close. Experience with Xero or other cloud-based accounting systems (preferred). Ability to streamline and automate compliance workflows.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field. Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CMA (preferred). Minimum 5+ years of experience in finance operations, tax & compliance, and statutory governance in India.
