Job Description

Job Summary:



The Microfinance Field Officer is responsible for identifying potential clients, forming and managing groups, disbursing loans, collecting repayments, and providing financial literacy and support services to clients. The role involves extensive fieldwork to engage with low-income individuals and communities, promoting financial inclusion through microfinance services.

Key Responsibilities:



Client Identification & Group Formation:

Identify and mobilize prospective clients in rural or urban low-income areas. Facilitate group formation, verification, and group training. Ensure compliance with organizational criteria for client selection.

Loan Disbursement & Recovery:

Assist clients with loan applications and documentation. Disburse loans and maintain records as per company policy. Monitor loan utilization and ensure timely repayment collections. Follow up with defaulters and implement recovery strategies.

Client Support & Financial Education:

Educate clients on loan products, interest rates, repayment schedules, and responsibilities. Provide ongoing support to client groups, addressing grievances and financial literacy needs.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of all field activities, loan disbursements, repayments, and client information. Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to supervisors. Ensure data accuracy in digital or manual systems.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Adhere to all regulatory and organizational guidelines. Identify and report potential risks in the field to management.

Qualifications & Skills:



Minimum of a

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree

in Business, Finance, Social Work, or related field.

1-2 years

of experience in microfinance, community development, or fieldwork (freshers may be considered in some cases). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to ride a motorbike and willingness to travel extensively. Familiarity with local languages and customs. Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, data entry tools). Honesty, integrity, and a passion for community service.

Preferred:



Experience working with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), or cooperatives. Knowledge of microfinance software or mobile-based loan tracking apps.

Working Conditions:



Field-based role requiring daily travel to client locations. May involve working extended hours or weekends depending on the loan cycle or collection requirements.
