The Field Network Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting network infrastructure at customer locations. This role involves fieldwork, coordination with internal teams, and ensuring uninterrupted network connectivity while adhering to company standards and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain network equipment such as routers, switches, modems, and fiber/CAT6 cabling at client sites
Perform network fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and rectification within defined SLA timelines
Carry out fiber splicing, termination, testing, and OTDR analysis (if applicable)
Provide on-site and remote technical support for network-related issues
Coordinate with NOC, ISP partners, and internal technical teams for issue resolution
Conduct preventive maintenance and routine network checks
Ensure proper documentation of installations, configurations, and service reports
Follow safety standards while working at heights, poles, towers, or confined spaces
Educate customers on basic network usage and troubleshooting
Maintain tools, spares, and inventory assigned for field operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
Diploma / ITI / Degree in Networking, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field
Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and networking concepts
Experience with fiber optic and wireless networks is an added advantage
Ability to use testing tools such as LAN testers, power meters, and OTDR (preferred)
Good problem-solving and communication skills
Willingness to travel extensively and work in shifts/on-call duties
Experience
