Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic systems. As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our fiber optic networks.

Key Responsibilities

:

Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables in various settings including commercial, residential, and industrial environments. Perform testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems using specialized equipment such as OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicers. Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work orders to determine job specifications and requirements. Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities. Ensure all work complies with industry standards, safety protocols, and company policies. Collaborate with team members, clients, and contractors to complete projects efficiently and effectively. Assist in the planning and design of fiber optic network expansions and upgrades. Stay updated with the latest advancements in fiber optic technology and industry best practices.

Qualifications

:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in fiber optics is preferred. Proven experience as a Fiber Technician or in a similar role. Proficiency with fiber optic testing and splicing equipment. Strong understanding of fiber optic networks, components, and installation techniques. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various environments, including outdoors and confined spaces. Physical ability to perform tasks that may include lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

:

Certifications such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or Fiber Optic Installer (FOI). Experience with fiber optic network design and planning. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
