Job Summary

The Fiber Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic network infrastructure. The role ensures high network availability, performance, and quality while supporting expansion and operations of fiber-based services.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, deploy, and maintain fiber optic networks (FTTH, FTTB, backbone, and access networks) Perform fiber splicing, jointing, termination, and testing Conduct OTDR, power meter testing, and fault analysis to identify and resolve fiber issues Troubleshoot fiber cuts, signal degradation, and network outages within SLA timelines Coordinate with NOC, field teams, vendors, and contractors for network operations Supervise and guide fiber technicians and subcontractors Ensure proper route documentation, fiber diagrams, and test reports Monitor fiber network performance and support preventive maintenance activities Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies during field operations Support network expansion, relocation, and upgrade projects

Required Skills & Technical Knowledge

Strong knowledge of fiber optic principles, splicing techniques, and testing methods Hands-on experience with OTDR, Power Meter, Splicing Machine, and Fiber Identifier Understanding of network topologies, IP networking basics, and OSP concepts Ability to analyze network faults and implement corrective actions Good coordination, reporting, and documentation skills

Qualifications

Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Networking, or related field Relevant technical training in fiber optic networks

Experience

2-5 years of experience in fiber network deployment and maintenance Experience in ISP / Telecom / FTTH environment preferred

Preferred Certifications (Optional)

Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) CCNA / Networking fundamentals certification

Work Environment

Field-intensive role with outdoor work and site visits May require shift work, emergency call-outs, and weekend support
