The role involves fiber cable splicing, jointing, testing, fault rectification, and maintaining high-quality fiber links from POP to customer premises. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and live network troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
fusion splicing
of single-mode fiber cables (SMF) for backbone, distribution, and drop fibers
Splice and maintain
FOSC (Fiber Optic Splice Closures), Joint Boxes, and ODF panels
Conduct
fiber testing
using OTDR, Power Meter, and Light Source
Identify and resolve
fiber faults, attenuation issues, and link breaks
Execute fiber restoration during outages and emergency maintenance
Read and interpret
fiber route maps, splicing diagrams, and network layouts
Ensure proper fiber labeling, documentation, and splice records
Coordinate with NOC, network engineers, and field teams during deployments and faults
Follow ISP safety standards, fiber handling procedures, and quality benchmarks
Support
FTTH activations
, migrations, and network expansions
Technical Skills Required
Fusion splicing (core alignment / cladding alignment)
OTDR trace analysis and troubleshooting
ODF termination and fiber management
Knowledge of
FTTH / FTTx architecture (OLT-Splitter-ONT)
Fiber types: Single-mode (G.652, G.657)
Understanding of optical power levels, loss budgets, and link performance

Qualifications
Diploma / ITI / BE in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field

ISP or broadband service provider background
FTTH rollout and maintenance projects
Working knowledge of GPON / EPON networks
