The Fermentation/Upstream Operator will support the execution of upstream bioprocess operations in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The role involves preparation, operation, and monitoring of bioreactors/fermenters under strict GMP guidelines to ensure consistent, high-quality production of biological products.
Responsibilities
Prepare media, buffers, and solutions as per SOPs.
Operate fermenters/bioreactors in a GMP environment.
Perform aseptic inoculation and culture handling.
Monitor and adjust pH, DO, temperature, agitation, and feed rates.
Carry out CIP/SIP of fermenters and associated equipment.
Collect in-process samples and coordinate with QC for analysis.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and support routine maintenance.
Record all activities in BMRs, logbooks, and documentation as per GDP.
Follow GMP, safety, and cleanroom guidelines strictly.
Report deviations, contamination, or equipment issues immediately.
Work collaboratively with downstream, QA, and other production teams.
Qualifications
Diploma/B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related field.
1-3 years of experience in fermentation or upstream processing in a pharma/biopharma facility.
Skills Required
Knowledge of fermentation principles and bioprocess operations.
Strong aseptic technique and understanding of cleanroom practices.
Familiarity with CIP/SIP operations and equipment handling.
Ability to follow SOPs and maintain accurate GMP documentation.
Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
